Floyd County

Floyd County will host the 4th Annual 2S event on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011 at Floyd County's Elkhorn Park, located near the community of Minnie. Time will be 2-5 p.m. The event will feature the natural surroundings of the park which is nestled among beautifully forested trees. Activities such as: 1 and 2 mile hikes, line dancing, zumba, nature walks, mountain biking, walking, chair exercises, jump rope, corn hole, hoola hooping, tug-of-war, egg-spoon races and many more fun games.

Event summary:

Location: Elkhorn Park

Activities included: Walking, Mountain biking trail riding, Field games, Inflatable obstacle course, Corn hole, Disc golf, Disc throwing, Badmitten, Chair exercises, Line-dancing, Zumba, Variety of old-fashioned games from the "good old days", Tug-of-war, Nature walks, Health and fitness educational displays, Blood pressure-heart rate checks, Weight management information and Healthy snacks.

Recap of 2009 event

Event summary:
Second Sunday was held at the new Elkhorn Park located in southeastern Floyd County. Participation and attendance: 165 people. Activities included hiking the beautiful mountain trails, riding mountain bikes on the rugged terrain's new bike trails, nature walk on the interpretive trail, rope climbing on a beautiful creek bank/hillside, and walking laps on the paved walking loop meandering thru the wilderness setting. Organized games included corn hole, line dancing (led by the senior sensations dancers), frisbee golf, ultimate frisbee, obstacle courses, horseshoes, tug of war, sack races, hopscotch, hula hooping, leaf art, and more.
